The IDFC FIRST Private Metal Credit Card sits at the top of IDFC FIRST Bank’s card portfolio, issued only by invitation to select high-net-worth customers. The commencement fee and annual renewal are both ₹50,000 plus GST. On paying the commencement fee, you receive 50,000 reward points (worth ₹12,500 to ₹50,000 depending on redemption channel) and a complimentary Club ITC Culinaire Hotel Membership. Annual renewal credits 25,000 reward points. A Taj Epicure membership is also bundled, giving 25% off on food and beverages at any Taj property, 20% off on Qmin orders, and 20% off on Jiva Spa treatments.Reward points are earned per ₹150 spent (effective June 2025). The tiered structure gives 10X on monthly spends above ₹30,000, 6X on online purchases and 3X on in-store purchases up to ₹30,000, and 1X on insurance premiums. At the 10X tier, this translates to 6.67% back when points are redeemed at ₹1 each for travel bookings via the FIRST Rewards Gallery app, or 1.67% at the standard ₹0.25 per point elsewhere. Points never expire and can be redeemed for gift vouchers, statement credit, or travel. Rental and education payments earn 3X but sit outside the 10X threshold calculation. The 0% forex markup is the most striking travel benefit, eliminating the 2–3.5% currency conversion cost that most Indian cards charge. Unlimited airport lounge access covers both domestic and international terminals, with complimentary guest access at domestic lounges four times per year. Railway lounge access within India is also unlimited. Trip cancellation cover provides up to ₹50,000 per claim (two claims per year), and air accident insurance goes up to ₹2.5 crore. On the lifestyle front, BookMyShow gives ₹750 off on movies and events twice per month, unlimited golf rounds and lessons run at premier Indian courses, one complimentary international golf round is offered per quarter, and discounts apply at The Postcard Hotels and The Quorum Club. What truly separates the FIRST Private from other super-premium cards is the fee structure. There are no late payment charges, no overlimit charges, and the fixed annual interest rate is 9%, roughly one-fifth of the 36–48% APR on typical credit cards. Karma Points, earned on spends above ₹30,000 per cycle, are donated by the bank to a charity of your choice from a list of 18 NGOs. The card also includes a birthday donation feature where 10% of birthday spends (capped at ₹25,000) go to your selected charity. The card works best for frequent international travellers and high spenders who cross the ₹30,000 monthly threshold consistently. If your spending stays below that and you rarely travel abroad, the ₹50,000 fee is difficult to recover through rewards alone.
